2020 Medina Half Marathon and 5K / Medina Runs Down Cancer Series

Volunteer for the 2020 Medina Half Marathon and 5K / Medina Runs Down Cancer Series

The event starts and finishes on the Historic Medina Square, Public Square, Medina, OH 44256 on May 30 at 6:45 AM. The course runs through our beautiful city, around the crushed gravel trail of Lake Medina, through scenic neighborhoods and then runners head back up to the square. This race is being held by the Medina County Road Runners.  Our title sponsor is Summa Health. All funds are given back to local charities.  Donations can also be given under this link fundraiser section, donations can also be made through the registration process.  We are supporting the Mary Grace Foundation and the Medina County Road Runners Memorial Scholarship Fund.  We will also have all water stops supported by local non-profits that will each receive a small donation.

Please plan to attend our expo on Friday, May 29, 3:00-7:30 PM at Summa Health Medina Medical Center 3780 Medina Rd, Medina, OH 44256 as we do not have a day of race pick up.  If you would like to volunteer at our event please sign up under this link volunteer section.  All details will be updated on our website, social media, and emailed to runners.

The Medina Half Marathon, Walk, Relay and 5K are ALL part of the Medina Runs Down Cancer Series!

The series includes:

-Medina Half Marathon & 5K on Saturday, May 30 at 6:45 A.M (Half Marathon) & 7:00 A.M. (5K)
Located at Medina Square, 93 Public Square, Medina, OH 44256.
-Collin Cares "Glow With the Flow" 5K on Friday, August 7 at 7:45 PM (Mile Run Kids) & 8:15 PM (5K)
Located at AI Root Middle School,  333 W Sturbridge Dr. Medina, OH 44256
-Race with Grace 5K on Sunday, September 13 at 9:00 A.M. (5K)
Located at Medina Hospital, 1000 East Washington St. Medina, OH 44256

Please note there are NO refunds, transfers, or deferrals offered for these events.

ALL RUNNERS that participate in the series will receive a series medal & series shirts at the conclusion of the series.

-Series Awards will be given for top three male and female runners in the series.

Expo is Friday, May 29, 2020, at the Summa Health Medina Medical Center Meet at the Summa Lake Medina Medical Center. Please park in the very back of the lot (around the corner from the ER) -We will unload the UHauls and move and set up the tables following Expo Layout. -Assist vendors that request help with moving supplies. -Assist timing company with unloading. Expo is Friday, May 29, 2020, at the Summa Health Medina Medical Center
Set up the shirt tables, organized by color and size. There will be black shirts for the relay, competitive walk, and half marathon. The green shirts are for the 5K runners. Expo is Friday, May 29, 2020, at the Summa Health Medina Medical Center
May 30, 2020 Food Prep. Slice fruit. Coolers set up, ice water, milk, etc. Tables set up and ready for the finish line set up at 7 AM. -Set up barricades -Set up Awards table -Set up tents ------IF YOU CAN ARRIVE EARLIER WE WILL BE THERE AT 4 AM--------- Age 12+ Please. No strollers, dogs, etc.
Date--May 30, 2020 Meet at the Square at 5:00 AM Sharp. Depart square at 5:15 AM We will have a Uhaul but some will need to follow in a car or truck. Job--Put up signs, set up water stop tables, unload water, cups, rakes, etc. for the various water steps. Teams are split into 2 so you will set up half the course. This is NOT an ideal position if you are running the half marathon. If you have a headlamp, Noxgear, etc, please dress brightly.

Date--May 30, 2020 Meet at the square near the Court House. -Gather: Table, money box, pins, shirts, and set up near the timing truck. Runners that missed the day of race pick up will come and check-in with you. They will receive their shirt, bib, race packet (if any are left) and their race bib. -Runners may stop by the table and ask to exchange shirts. Please check with the race director on when that process can begin. -BEFORE YOU LEAVE---take all shirts to the awards tent. See Race Director to turn in other supplies. THANK YOU!
Be present on the course to assist runners, follow along with the course. Please carry a cell phone. You do not have to know the course, but carefully follow posted signs and arrows to help runners correctly stay on course.
We have to open all of the race medal boxes and separate them into Half, Relay, and 5K. We prep the area so the medals are ready for the finish line volunteers to quickly hand out medals. (Feel free to sign up to stay and help pass out medals, work the finish line etc)
Knowledge of the course is appreciated for this! We will have a team leader to help and answer questions. Meet at the Expo (Summa Health Lake Medina at 5:50 PM) Gather signs, tape, course maps, etc. Mark course for runners with road tape and directional signage. NO YOUNG CHILDREN PLEASE, this involves marking tape in between moving traffic. We want everyone to be safe! If you KNOW the course and want to make the course earlier in the day, let us know! We can make that happen!
